With the warmer weather finally here, now’s your chance to enjoy the great British summer! If you have a conservatory already, or you’re considering having one installed, there’s no doubting it’s an excellent location for hosting a summertime soiree. So crack open the Pimms, and have the canapés at the ready, as Hamilton Windows explores some great ideas for holding the perfect midsummer conservatory party!
Beat unpredictable weather with your conservatory
It’s during the summer months that your garden is usually at its best. Verdant trees and the flowers flourishing beneath them make a gorgeous location for many events. Unfortunately, Britain’s famously fickle weather doesn’t always make this an option, with a high chance that your laboriously planned outdoor party will get rained off.
Your conservatory, however, is the perfect antidote to Britain’s inclement weather. Large panes of glass mean that light will pour in, mimicking that outdoor feeling. Plus, the backdrop of your garden will bring the natural world indoors, so your guests can appreciate the summery view and atmosphere, without worrying about those dark clouds gathering overhead.
Ward off bees, wasps and mosquitos
If you’ve lucked out, and the weather looks like it will hold up for your summer party, it’s only sensible to throw open the conservatory doors, and take advantage of your outdoor space, too. Remember to carefully place and light large pillar candles by your conservatory that contain citronella, to ward off any uninvited, six-legged guests.
Serve cocktails in your conservatory
As any host knows, it’s sometimes difficult to juggle both the preparation and socialising aspects of a party. This can be remedied by serving food and drinks that aren’t too fiddly, but that’s not to say you don’t want to impress your guests, now is it?
Why not serve Kir Royales to visitors in your conservatory on arrival? With this simple yet sophisticated summertime tipple, you’ll please your guests without even having to pick up a cocktail shaker! Simply add a dash of crème de cassis to the bottom of a champagne flute, and, depending on the budget of your party, top with champagne, cava or sparkling wine. The light pouring through your conservatory windows and bouncing off the dancing champagne bubbles will add a real touch of class to your party.
